Author Solutions Opens Hollywood?s Doors for Authors with Book-to-Screen PitchFest

Bloomington, IND (PRWEB) October 27, 2011

Author Solutions, Inc. (ASI), the world leader in indie book publishing, today announced it will bring its highly successful Book-to-Screen PitchFest to New York City. The sold-out, ASI-hosted event offers authors the rare and unique opportunity to bring their story ideas face-to-face with some of the most influential entertainment industry executives. PitchFest New York will be held on October 28-29 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in the heart of Times Square.

Building off the success of ASI?s Inaugural PitchFest Los Angles, where more than 150 authors pitched their books as movie ideas to Hollywood executives, PitchFest New York provides even more authors with the opportunity to present their works for both film and television. Designed as both a learning and pitching event, PitchFest New York provides both group and one-on-one instructional sessions allowing authors to refine their pitches before delivering them to entertainment industry executives.

All attendees will pitch to a number of different industry professionals. The two authors who garner the most positive response will have the exclusive opportunity to pitch to famed Hollywood producer Paula Wagner, whose credits include ?Mission: Impossible? 1, 2 and 3, ?The Last Samurai,? ?The Others? and ?Vanilla Sky,? to name a few.

?I?ve been in the entertainment industry for many years, and one of the most difficult challenges writers face in this business is getting someone to listen to their story ideas,? said Marcus Chait, ASI?s director of new media. ?This event gives our authors genuine access to industry decision-makers.?

PitchFest New York begins with a learning workshop where ?The King of the Pitch,? Robert Kosberg, teaches authors how to formulate an effective, compelling pitch. Participants are then given the opportunity to create or rework their story pitches before delivering them in a practice round to Kosberg, Chait, and ASI senior vice-president of marketing, Keith Ogorek. Then finally, in speed-dating fashion, the authors will each have two minutes to deliver their fine-tuned book pitches to representatives from the participating entertainment companies.

At PitchFest Los Angeles, there were more than 60 requests from the Hollywood executives on more than 40 different titles. Among the various success stories, Ms. Wagner optioned the film, television and stage rights to author Trisha Ventker?s book, ?Internet Dates from Hell.?

Book-to-Screen PitchFest New York was available exclusively to ASI and ASI partner imprint authors. For more information about ASI, ASI?s partner brands or for information about self-publishing, visit http://www.authorsolutions.com.
